This Mayday we are calling for international solidarity with our comrades who are experiencing repression

On 1st May two of our comrades are in court in Birmingham for a plea hearing charged with terrorism.

They are required to attend the hearing by telephone.

About the defendants:

Paul Newey is being prosecuted for sending a small amount of money to his son, Dan, who is currently with the YPG in Rojava. Sam is Dan’s brother, and his charges relate to helping his brother fill out a form on the internet.

Free Dan Burke:

Meanwhile, Dan Burke is currently in prison on remand, on terrorism charges related to fighting with the Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG) in Rojava.

Call for Solidarity:
Kurdistan Solidarity Network are calling for solidarity with our comrades, who are in prison or being forced to attend court on 1st May, the international day of workers’ solidarity against capitalist oppression.

The antifascist struggle of the YPG has nothing to do with terrorism. Instead the YPG has defended the people of Mesopotamia from the genocidal fascism of Daesh (ISIS). The YPG, along with the Womens’ Defence Forces (YPJ) are the crucial self-defence forces of the Rojava revolution.#

We call on our friends everywhere to make banners and placards in solidarity with our comrades who are experiencing repression, and hang them from their windows or in public places on 1st May. Please email the pictures to kurdishsolidaritynetwork@riseup.net and share them on social media with the hashtags #RiseUp4Rojava #StopTheRepression #FreeThemAll
